Virtual Photoshoots

Updated: Apr 9, 2021

I’m so excited to tell you more about Virtual Newborn Shoots. They are completely covid safe and a brilliant way to capture these memories even if you are isolating. If you are due your baby very soon, then this could be a way for you to get some gorgeous images of your new arrival. Having a virtual newborn shoot gives you a chance to slow time down and truly celebrate the newest person in your family. Babies do stay little for a while but, the newborn stage goes by so quickly. Virtual newborn shoots mean we can get some great photographs and not even leave our homes!

How does it work I hear you say?

I have had so many people contact me thinking I have some kind of magic powers to make this work! So let me explain how it works a little more…

I have been using two apps Shutter and CLOS. If you book a shoot, you will need, to download one of these apps. Using the app, I can set up a ‘room’ and send you a link. Once we are in a room I can see you and you can see me, a bit like a face-time call. These apps allow me to take control of your camera on your phone. That is the only thing I can do. There is no need to worry about privacy issues as I have no access to anything else on your phone.

The image quality is better than your phone, but not as good as a professional camera. I can then use your phone to take images and press the shutter. I am able to shoot in RAW, which means the images are bigger than your typical phone photo, and I can then edit them with more control. If you would like photos of all three of you, it is ideal if you have someone in your bubble attend the shoot to hold the phone. Alternatively, you can balance it somewhere to get you all in shot! There are some lovely makeshift tripods. My favourite ones are a tin of beans and a hair tie or a shoe with some socks stuffed in.

This is not easy – but we can do it!

We will work as a team. Helping you prepare for the shoot beforehand. Directing you on what is most flattering for images, how to use blankets, and the natural light and helping the person holding the phone with clear instructions to get the shot lined up.

I have been able to give my couples a little bit of magic during these difficult times. Capturing these hazy newborn days means that you can relax in knowing that you will remember the little details like the size of their feet and the shape of their head. The best part of all is I have been able to work with clients all over the world and not just in Wiltshire, Bath or Bristol.

This is the start of a photography revolution and we are only just dipping our toe in. Please contact me for more information and how to book in.
